Examine the connection between adolescent decision making and risk taking. What is the connection between the two? How would this connection potentially conflict with moral and spiritual beliefs?
Adolescent is one of the most dangerous and daring age group who often are driven by the adventurous mindset without assessing the risks involved. Most of the time their decision making would be the result of peer pressure, societal pressure or out of poor judgment. This age is characterized by poor decision making or rather inability to decide, seeking adventurous tasks, experiencing new things etc. They are rebellious thus always look for ways and means to break the rules and regulations. That’s how they end up making poor decisions that impact their lives in the future. They are not afraid of anything and they feel that they could do anything thus never think of the consequences of their actions. They become more person centric, so concepts such as religion and spirituality do not bother them much. They don’t like an institution which rules them with abstract ideas because religion has no proof of whatever they preach. Adolescents need proof for everything and only then they believe. People in their adolescents age do not heed to the religious and moral institutions by disregarding them as artificial, so that they won’t have any control in their lives. Although this age group is characterized poor decision making, selfishness, don’t care attitude, experiencing adventurous things etc., if they are guided they could maximize the outcomes without getting hurt.
