Expert Solution

One of the most important things about power is that it would control those under them either in a good way or in a negative way. When the power source wish to continue with the power and get things done in an autocratic way, it would do everything to negatively influence people under them in some way such as, race, religion, culture, promotion, monetary benefits etc. This would mean that when people are negatively influenced, they would look for the benefit they would receive in supporting the power source and this would prevent them from critically analyse the decisions of the power source. One of the most important ways to overcome the influence of power is not to give into any benefits that the power source promises or engage in any associations such as color, race, religion etc. Secondly, engaging with everyone without associating with only the power source would help one view the problems or decisions from the power source as a third person by applying logical and critical thinking. So, it’s true that power corrupt cognitive process.
