1. explain what the p waves, qrs complex, and t waves
represent..
2. explain the significance of abnormal p waves, qrs complex, qt
intervals, and st segment depressions.
3. why does blood pressure fluctuate in arteries between heart
beats
Answers-
1. P wave- represent depolarisation of left and right atrium and also correspond atrial contraction.
QRS complex- represent depolarisation of ventricles.
T wave- represent repolarization of ventricles.
2. Abnormal P wave- represent right and left atrial enlargement.
Abnormal QRS complex- represent Abnormal depolarisation of ventricles, duration of QRS complex is greater than 0.12 second.
Abnormal qt interval- abnormally long or abnormally long qt interval is associated with increased risk of developing Abnormal heart rhythm and sudden cardiac death.
Abnormal st segment- represent interval between ventricular depolarisation and repolarization. The most important cause of st segment abnormality is myocardial ischemia or infarction.
3. Because the heart beat, the blood flow through the arteries is not steady but pulsatile and the blood flow and pressure it exerts, fluctuate from moment to moment.
