Prejudice is set of negative beliefs held against a particular person or group of people without any real experience. There are many factors which lead to prejudice - two important are 1) too much relying on visual information 2) protection of ego. Usually it is said that one sees what he or she wishes to see rather than seeing or perciving the situation. Hence the ego which a person has only allows you to see the whatever is favourable to the group identity or group belief system and which can protect its identity and hence the postive thing are not usually seen of the person against whom the group has prejudice.
Not resolving issues, continuing with the same belief system or not thinking about the other way round also helps in maintaining the prejudice.
Groups should get to know each other. The groups can know each other through any games or by self introduction or by doing mix group works i.e. by not forming ay group would help in breaking the ice. And people would not form any prejudice against each other.
