You want to determine if there is a relationship between birth order (first, or second child in the family) and current relationship status. You interview 1000 people who are all either 1st, or 2nd born in their family and group them as follows: (i) never been in a relationship, (ii) in a committed relationship, (iii) in a casual relationship, (iv) was in a relationship, but currently unattached, (v) pursuing multiple relationships.
A) type out the rules for your analysis
Abstract:
The purpose of this study is to find out if birth order affects relationships. There are a lot of studies that show that birth order has powerful influences on ones personallity along with parenting styles. Birth order is a strong predictor for family sentiments, relationships, friendships and mating behavior.
Method:
We included around 1000 people from different walks of life and we clubbed them into various similar groups with respect to birth order and current relationship statuses like 1) Those who have never been in a relationship, 2)Those were in a committed relationship, 3) Those who were involved in casual relationships 4) Those who were in an attached relationship and 5) Those who were involved with multiple partners and relationships.
We gave them a questionnaire for the same. It contained all the details regarding their order of birth and their current relationship status. We made a thorough analysis on the birth order of the subjects or participants and their ralationship and mating behaviours.
These findings were reflected from the questionnaire filled by the participants. They could have misread their parent's emotions for them and parents love could be same for all the children but our study was based on their understanding of how their birth order affected their relationships with their parents.
Conclusion:
As per the answers filled by the participants in the questionnaire, our analysis showed that middle borns many times received a bit less degree of support including that of finance from their parents. We also found that the first borns got a lot of affection and support from their fathers and the last ones got a lot of love and support from their mothers in many cases. Middle ones got a bit neglected in many cases. So it shaped their personalities, relationships and mating behaviours. The middle ones got a bit detached from their families and seeked solace from their partners. They normally belonged to group 2) as mentioned above, that is, they were in a committed relationship. They were very less likely to cheat and hence rarely fell into groups 3(casual relationships) and group 5(multiple relationships). The last borns were the ones who got attached more to their mothers hence they like more and more of the affection in their partners, hence they were more likely to get involved in casual(group 3) and multiple relationships(group 5). The first borns were mostly liked by their fathers and they built their personalities in similar fashion, they were very much duty bound and shouldered more responsibilities. So they were mostly in 2)Committed relationships or 1)never been in relationship or 4)In a relationship but could not get attached due to their duties. Our study is based on an abstract concept and does not claim that all children born in a particular order have a biased shower of love and affection from their parents. This study was mainly based on our anaylsis of the 1000 participants.
