A canoe lies and bobs in the water. It is 3.7 meters long and weighs 38 kg.
a) What is the volume of the canoe underwater?
b) Calculate and draw the forces acting on the canoe.
Here , buoynce force acting on the particle will balance the weight of the body, hence using archemedic principle, i.e. , weight of displaced water= buoynce force, we get volume of the canoe underwater. Hence, we obtain volume = 0.38 m^3. Also only two forces, buoynce and weight of the object act on the canoe in opposite direction , which is equal to 380 Newton.
