how would you describe the p-value in terms of bell-curve with an example along with a hypothesis written in English, i.e. Ho and Ha? How would you also define marginal significance?
the p-value is defined as the probability of obtaining the observed results of a test, when the null hypothesis is correct.
it is used as an alternative to rejection points to provide the smallest level of significance at which the null hypothesis would be rejected.p value is the probability of observing a mean that is as more extreme than the observed.
.in other words ,it is the level of marginal significance within a statistical hypothesis test representing the probability of the occurrence of an event.
example, a p value of 0.0254 is 2.54%. This means there is a 2.54% chance your results could be random
