Solutions

Expert Solution

Anatomy is the study of parts of an organism, which includes the study of internal and external body structures, while physiology deals with how these parts of organism function together. Anatomy and Physiology are closely related because all specific function are performed by specific structures, Structure determines function, what it means is that the way something is arranged allows it to play its role to fulfill its function within an organism, for eg, the shape of teeth in front (incissors) are shaped in such way it can allow it tear food particles, while the teeth at the back (molars) are flat shaped which allows it to grind food. Alveoli which are the cells of lungs are very thin and single cell epithelium, this feature allows for efficient exchange of gases like carbon di oxide and oxygen in the lungs. Because of this very close relationship between the structure and function, we cannot separate anatomy and physiology.
