I need an essay with a tittle of E-learning history of 3 pages
Only since 1999, when the word was first used at a CBT program conference, has the expression "elearning" existed. Certain terms like "online learning" and "virtual learning" have began to appear in search of a concise definition. The ideas behind elearning, however, have been well established throughout history, and there is also proof that early forms of elearning have existed since the 19th century.
Long before the internet was launched, distance courses were being provided to provide students with knowledge on specific subjects or skills. In the 1840's Isaac Pitman taught his pupils shorthand via correspondence. This type of symbolic writing was intended to improve the speed of writing, and was popular among secretaries, journalists, and other individuals who took or wrote a lot of notice. Pitman, who was a trained instructor, was sent his students via the mail system to complete assignments and he would then give them more work to complete.
With the introduction of the computer and internet in the late 20th century, elearning tools and delivery methods expanded. The first MAC in the 1980’s enabled individuals to have computers in their homes, making it easier for them to learn about particular subjects and develop certain skill sets. Then, in the following decade, virtual learning environments began to truly thrive, with people gaining access to a wealth of online information and elearning opportunities.
Companies began using elearning in the 2000's to train their workers. New and seasoned employees alike have now had the ability to develop their knowledge base in the industry and broaden their skill sets. At home individuals were granted access to services that gave them the opportunity to earn degrees online and improve their lives through expanded awareness. Today, elearning is more common than ever, with countless people realizing the benefits that learning online can bring.
The future holds a new wave of social media-inspired e-learning, Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs), Selective Open Online Courses (SOOCs), and websites such as YouTube too. Individuals and businesses alike take the opportunity to exchange knowledge and learn from each other through these different channels. Filtered sits on this wave and is fitted with state-of - the-art technology to help everyone develop their knowledge base. As for the near future of e-learning, let us all hope that the frameworks of Artificial Intelligence are nothing like what we saw in the Terminator films.
