The role of mass media in increasing and decreasing diversity completely depends upon the owner and propagater of the media outlets. What kind of readers and viewers they are going to have. Mass media enhances connectivity thus we come to know different things about different cultures. It keeps us connected to the world. Mass media seems to be a great culture-bearer, it tells us about different cultures and their specialities and connect us to the culture of others. In short diversity is disseminated. It informs us what is going around us and make us understand other cultural traits and accept them and disseminate them. But all these need honest representation. Because lots of social hatred, abuse are very easy target can be achieved through mass media, we need to be careful about these. Otherwise it has implications. Like rituals and celebrations of African culture can be broadcasted very easily in other countries, they can also celebrate that culture if they desire to do so.
