Motivation is what makes us do things. The rewards and incentives- the external motivators do play their part in motivating individuals to work for the tasks, the goals, but when the size of the incentive or reward is larger, it negatively effects the performance. Now, here the internal motivation plays its role. When an individual likes the task, they better perform on the task no matter what the external incentive is. The urge to master a skill, an internal motivating enhances the performance, and when individuals find purposes for performing again an internal motivating factor,they do well. Thus, its the personal interest, the motivation for mastery, and the purpose, that makes individuals to do things in a better way than just some sort of external rewards and incentives. Even, in our personal lives, the things which gains our attention or interest at personal level are done with ease and we feel a sense of fulfillment, though it may have some external rewards.
