Present a detailed analysis on what observations can be made of Crepidual fornicata and Artemia. For each create a large labeled diagram.
Crepidula fornicata is the scientific name for the common slipper shell. It is marine and is mollusk. The shell may be convex and the average size is 35 mm and the maximum recorded size is 50mm. The shell is slightly convex, the edge of the shell may be sharp, and has to be handled carefully to avoid cuts. They are found on sand or gravel bottoms and they tend to pile up on each other. The exterior of the shell may be pale purple to brownish color, and the inside has irregular purple patches. They are edible and highly valued. They feed on plankton and are detritivores.
Artemia
It is commonly known as brine shrimp. There are lot of species like A salina, A monica, etc. They produce dormant eggs, known as cyst which is extensively used for fish rearing. They are used as live feed in fish farming, especially to provide live feed to young ones of bettas, guppies, etc. They usually tolerate very high range of salinity. Sexual dimorphism is present as the second antennae is larger in females.
The eggs normally hatch, but in extreme conditions of salinity or low dissolved oxygen, the eggs produced have a protective coating known as chorion coating, the eggs in this condition are called cysts and hatches when optimal conditions are given.
