Pick one amendment from the Bill of Rights and explain the historical context and importance of this amendment. Then, explain how this amendment is still relevant today. How has this transformed over time?
For the purpose of this answer, I have selected 4th amendment as the amendment of choice in the bill of rights. Historically, the fourth amendment was given by James Madison in 1789 in response to the writ of assistance search warrant by the British government which became a type of tension in the pre-revolution era of America. This presented the Congress with an option to present unauthorized search and seize by members of the government. It, however, didn't mean that all search and seizures by the government officials were illegal, but, only the ones that are deemed to be unreasonable under the benefit of the doubt and by the law.
Today's day and age present challenge to both the government agencies and individuals to protect their privacy. There needs to be a reasonable excuse or a doubt behind the issuance of a search warrant by the court which means that individuals can essentially protect themselves from the exploitation done by u just practices and unlawful conduct by the government agencies. This however also means that people that are guilty of a particular crime need to be indicted first, proper evidence needs to be submitted before the judge can order a search warrant for the property of an individual and essentially work against the constitution.
There hadn't been any drastic changes to the 4th amendment but the addition of the exclusionary rule which is not written in the constitution but is still mandated by the government which safeguards the individual's interest by rendering the evidence received from the violation of the 4th amendment useless and inadmissible in the court of law.
