Compare and contrast casein and whey proteins.
Answer) Casein and whey protein both are derived from milk. Or
both are the byproducts of cheese. They both contain high quality
protein and also contain all essential amino acids.
* Special enzymes or we can sy acids are added to heated milk while
making of cheese. The enzyme coagulate the casein present in milk
and seperate it from the liquid part of milk, the watery portion of
milk is the whey protein which is dried into powdered form for make
it suitable for use.
* Their digestion time is different. casein digests slowly, so
better to take before bed time .While whey digests quickly, so
should not be taken before bedtime. Casein helps in recovery and
reduce muscle breakdown and also boost muscle growth. On the other
hand Whey protein is commonly used for improving athletic
performance and increasing strength. It improve the nutrient
content of the diet and also have some effects on our immune
system.
* If casein is taken in excessive amount, it can causes many side
effets like abdominal pain, bloating, vomitting, diarrhoea. If whey
is taken in excessive amount, it can causes many side effets like
thirst, bloating, cramps, reduced appetite, fatigueness and
headache.
