Climate change is impacting
biological systems. Give 3 examples and explain how they are
related to increases in temperature, CO2 or both.
Climate change is resulting in
changes in the biological systems. The three examples that show how
climate change impacts change in temperature or co2 or both
are:
- Range shifts: as a result of
increase in temperature, there has been an increase in temperature.
As a result, there have been an overall increase in the
temperatures leading to melting of glaciers and warmers rovers as
well as streams.
- Due to of a burning of fossil
fuels, there is a release of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. As a
result of this , there is an increase in the solar radiation that
is coming in, leading to thermal imbalances. This results in
warming of the climate systems.
- Changes in the land cover such as
deforestation along with urbanisation. With the increase in cutting
of plants, there is a shift in vegetation, altering the routes of
rainfall resulting in. Changes in the natural cycle of water. This
results in increased heat production and increase in
temperatures.
- There also has been a substantial
decrease of carbon dioxide in ocean sinks. The ocean used to serve
as a large reservoir of carbon absorption, which have also reduced
due to increased dumping of oil in the wared bodies causing a
decrease in the absorption of ocean and thus increasing
availability in the atmosphere.
