Two converging thin lenses (f1 = 15 cm and f2 = 20 cm) are separated by 25 cm. A
candle is placed in 40 cm in front of the first lens.
a) Where will the image of the candle be created by the two-lens system?
b) Describe the properties of the image.
c) Describe how the image changes as the lenses are moves closer together.
d) The lenses are now moved right next to each other. What is the equivalent optical
power of the system (optical power = reciprocal of the focal length. In this case, it will
be the focal length of the two-lens system)? What conclusion can you draw?
