A will is basically a document which contains details of a person's estate, property and other assets and states their ownership after the original owner's death. It is usually kept for safekeeping by the executor of the will.

The first time i was exposed to a will was when it was used for a neighbor of mine. The family was as follows: an aged man and his daughter-in-law. The daughter-in-law used to serve her father-in-law wholeheartedly and stayed with him even though her husband had left him for some other woman long back. The old man's wife had passed away and had no other children. Yet, in his will, the man did not give ownership of his wealth to his daughter-in-law who had cared so much for him in his times of distress but instead to his brother's children because he never considered the daughter-in-law as a part of his family.

It was very heartbreaking and unfortunate but the daughter-in-law kept up her pride and continued with all the responsibilities of the cremation and other rites.
