Explain applying for a position that I am currently working as a para-educator, however, I am hired as an adult assistant. We are a new school short staff so I am needed to do more of the Para-educator's work alongside taking care of my student. How do I explain that showing I am qualified to do the new posting of Para-educator?
Many employees can relate with your situation as in many cases we need to do certain work which are different from the ones we were originally recruited for. In your case, you can show official proof of being an adult assistant but you can't show any documents regarding your working as a para-educator.
Well, though documents and experience certificates are important requisites for a job application yet the potentials of the candidate matters a lot. My advice will be that you write in your job application that though your job position is of an adult assistant yet you have gained experience for both adult assistant and para educator through enactive learning. You can write that as your organization is a small one, thus, you have played the role of a para-educator actively for a long time. I hope this will secure your place for the interview. In the interview you must be able to prove it to them that you have both the experience (unofficial in your case) and potential to be a para-educator. Your potential and efficiency is the main criteria and thus, if you can earn their trust and make them see your potential then I am hopeful about your selection.
