1. File extension: A file extension is the ending of a file that helps to identify the type of file in operating systems. There are thousands of file extensions associated with one or more applications.
Purpose of file extension: The purpose of the file extension is to identify the type of file. The computer uses this information to open the file with the correct software application.
2. The three file extension are :
(a) Email extensions: such as
.email - Outlook Express e-mail message file.
.msg - to manage microsoft outlook email message file.
.pst - to manage microsoft outlook email storage file.
And this extension is identified by : Microsoft software application
(b) Data file extensions : such as
.csv - comma separated value file
.dat - data file
.xml - XML file
This extension is identified by : microsoft access software
(c) Executable file extensions: such as
.jar - Java archive file
.bin - binary file
.apk - android package file
This extension is identified by: microsoft software application.
3. Reasons for files/folders management:
(a) Effective file management ensures that your files are organized and up to date. Whether its for personal or business reasons, having the right files ensures that you have any data that you need.
(b) The files/folders should be managed properly for easy retrieval when required. It is frustrating and time-consuming to search through irrelevant, misnamed, and out-dated files to find the one you want.

By using hierarchical file system technique, Subfolders are a huge benefit when trying to keep things organized. Within your main folder, you should have multiple categories of folders. And within those categories of folders, there should be more specific categories of folders.
