You are the senior analyst in the FBI’s cybercrime division. The executive director for criminal,
cyber, response, and services branch has asked you to provide an assessment of where the FBI
needs to be by 2020 in regard to combating cybercrime. The ED is looking for how best to
engage the private sector, as well as other parts of government in order to help achieve this
objective.
FBI & CYBERCRIME MISSION 2020
Cybercrime will be one of the mangnanimous challenges that mankind will face in the forthcoming decades. According to the official cybercrime report Cybercrime treason will account for a whooping $6 trillion by 2021 up from its level of $3 trillion in 2015. These are big numbers crossing the GDP of several countries across the globe. The motor vehicles will go 90% online by 2020 and most individuals become vulnerable thorugh their wireless Implantable Medicle Devices through which most of the masses become vulnerable to cyber crime. The cyber wrold government statistics says by 2020 300 billion cyber password needs to be protected across the globe. These are serious matters and they call for proper laying of security walls to nullify the cyber attacks.
The cybercrime unit needs to up itself on the technology part. (Assumption) The present unit has an infrastruture both hardware and software of 50,000 sq ft in place with budget of 50 billion dollars. The cybersecurity cell needs to pass an estimated cybersecurity budget of $ 1 trillion which is just the double of what is in place.
Cybersecurity cell needs to hire ace students from across the globe excelling in the field on IT and specialising in Cybersecurity. To create a bigger most advanced cybersecurity cell with latest gadgets and machines which will be handled by all the experts of cybersecurity who have been recruited.
There should also be spending on R&D by visitation of faculties from world's top technical institutes to the like of MIT etc who would provide inputs to constant development of new softwares that would stop cyber crimes.
Ransomware is the most infectious cyber crime malware which hijacks all systems and demands ransom for releasing your data. Ransomware and its kin pose utmost threat and a special cell needs to be created excelling only in combating ransomware.
Cybercrime needs expert minds with strong IT qualifications and FBI should concentrate to nip the problem in the bud. Put extreme cyber laws in place with strenous prison years so that people involved in commiting these crimes feel fearful of being caught and put behind bars. Develop hackers to hack into their hoax IP and to be able to trace the original place from where the malicious cybercrime was committed. The base of this whole process should be engineering people to combat these cybercrime group of criminals.
FBI should put in place another cell which connectes all the countrie's cybersecurity cell instantly and works coherently with all the countries. A separate cyber law regarding the amalgamation of resources of each country in relation to cybercrime be pu in place and FBI be made the governing body for the group. The nations have to join hands together, join their experts and together and severally combat these invisble online criminals.
Global cyberlaws with stringent punitive ramifications to be formulated by the UNICEF so that the world appears united to distort the cyber criminals.
FBI has to be ahead in technology and thought process of the cyber criminals. FBI should also bring the frontrunner IT companies together to device softwares that can catch these criminals quickly.
Cybercrime and terrorism go hand in glove because these funds siphoned through cybercrimes are diverted to fund terrorism. Thus FBI should put in place a group which inturn hacks the systems of cybercriminals to catch them to stop them from their crimes.
