You are interested in knowing more about the factors that cause some men to batter their spouses. You therefore plan to study a group of highly violent men who have been incarcerated for violence against women. You hope that your study will yield important insights that might help researchers reduce this crime, and you want to start developing the questions you will ask. So, where do you start? What steps would you follow to increase the likelihood that your questionnaire can yield insights into this specific problem?

To know why the men used to batter their spouse, it is important to know the background of these people. As per Nadine Burke the child psychologist, the children who suffer adverse childhood experiences (ACES) have difficult adulthood, they become aggressive and intolerant. As per Sigmund Freud, childhood experiences remain in our unconscious mind and it is retrieved when one faces the same situation. It is possible that one is born aggressive and he had inherited it from either of the parents.

My Questionnaire would focus on 1. The incarcerated people's profile.

2. Their family and ethnic background, his economical condition.

3. whether he was employed or unemployed.

4. What is his belief?

5. What type of relationship they had with the spouse,

6. Their lifestyle and habits.

7. What are the provocative situations?

8. Details about their spouse,

9. What are the instigating factors?

10. Is she alcoholic, or substance abuse,

11. Is she employed or a housewife?

12. How many children they have,

13. Whether he or she has any other relationship.

14. How he used to feel after using violence or assaulting the spouse.

15. Was he felt sorry or he was relaxed.

16. Was this happening in front of the children routinely or occasionally?

17. If it was happening in front of the children so what used to be their reactions?

18. Whether they were angry and left the house or the children also acted in the same manner.

Before starting a survey take consent of the prison authority. Introduce me as the researchers with authentic proof. It is important to take the consent of the people who have to participate and explain to them why the study is being conducted and how it will help in taking positive steps. After collecting the data it is important to analyze the factors that are common among these people for example aggressiveness, substance abuse or alcoholic, childhood frustration or economic conditions. Religion and belief play an important role in keeping harmony in the family so it has to be considered to see if they had any knowledge about it or not
