In your opinion, does law create social change, or does social change affect law? Use at least three (3) specific examples to illustrate your answer.
I am agreeing with both the statements. Laws can create social change and social change can affect law. Whenever we need to know throughly about a society, we need to study the laws enacted by that society. Law is considered as the reflection of will and wish of the society. The law which we can be known as the product of society can be considered as responsible for social transformations. There are two models of this aspect. First one is that " Law can change the society" which means that the law can change the whole social institutions in a society. And secondly is "society changes the law". This means that Law is made by the society according to the requirements of the society. When law changes the society,it shows the development process of society due to law. But if society changes the law then it can be considered that society become matured. Law regulates the behaviour of the people in a society.
We can understand this statements through some examples. Consider the "Nirbhaya" case in India. Due to the mass protection of society, the laws related to women protection in India was changed . Many new laws are also created as per the request of society.
Many of the Indian reformers like Raja RAm Mohan Roy, Mahatma While , Mahatma Gandhi photo Anna Hazzare demands many laws to improve social conditions and it was implemented as a result of mass mob protection.
Another example common for all the countries are about the concept of woman education and woman freedom.100 or 200 years back itself struggles started for the equality and for their basic rights. This results in many laws related to woman education ,protection etc
