Why is each of these statements somewhat misleading?
(a) “Illegal immigrants take only jobs that no American wants.”
(b) “Deporting 100,000 illegal immigrants would create 100,000 job openings for Americans.”
(a) the given statement is misleading because there can be a chance that the immigrant a bit more skilled for a particular job then the local person as a result of which the productivity of immigrant can be marginally high than that of the local person and the same salary the company will be rational in decision and choose the immigrant because is productivity is high and this is not the case where the American don't want the job but the case where the immigrant has higher skills as a result of which job can be taken away by immigrants
(b) Consider 100,000 workers were illegal immigrants are deported back then it might not create the same amount of job opportunities because the illegal immigrants can work at a very low wage as a result of which the company budget can be enough to employee hundred thousand people but for the local people the salary should be high and therefore at the same budget the hundred thousand workers might not be employed on the whole and that is the reason why this is a misleading statement on the whole
