Photo Array: A photo array also called photo lineup is a procedure in which an array of photographs is shown to an eyewitness for the purpose that S/he can identify the criminal.
Sequential Presentation of Photo Array: In this method, witnesses are shown one photo at a time, in a finite number of photographs until S/he seen all in the array.
Sequential Presentation of Photo Array is beneficial in Identification, reasons discussed below:
1. In Sequential Presentation, administration of a photo array (presenting the witness single photo at a time) outcome in more accurate identification than a simultaneous method
2. The sequential method of the photo lineup is better at preventing erroneous identifications without reducing the rate of correct identification.
3. The sequential lineup method is more diagnostic of guilt when the witness does make a choice, yielding odds of guilt almost twice that of the simultaneous lineup.
