1) Ans- A two compartment model is used for drugs which distribute slowly within the body. This model also called two compartment open model where drugs can enter and leave the body. For example, incase of a one time bolus IV administration over a short time period could lead to a drug distribution rapidly in blood and also to highly perfused body organs like liver and kidneys. There would be slower distribution to other parts of the body as the second compartment.

Two examples of drugs are vancomycin and digoxin. The drug and other substance enters in body and distributes in the first compartment. It is then distributes to another compartment. The concentration in first compartment declines with time whereas the concentration in the second compartment rises, peaks and declines as the chemical is eliminated from the body. In pharmacokinetic model the half life for a chemical is considered as biological half-life . This is the most commonly used measure of the kinetic behaviour of a xenobiotic.
