absolutism's causes, how it advanced, how it survived, and what legacy it left behind.
Absolutism is a practice where all
the power is vested Inn the hands of one person. There would be no
one or no legislation to oppose them or regulate them. Although
there would laws, rules and regulations to run the country, it
would be directly controlled by the one who is power. It was very
strong in the Europe during the 17th and 18th centuries, although
monarchs were in existence for a long time. Power was passed down
to a heir who was selected by the one who leaves the power,
probably the eldest son.
Then came the modern day absolutism where rules took the entire
power of the nation thus dictating terms and killing anyone who
comes on their way. History has seen enough of them and they caused
enough trouble in the world. Today, although absolutism is not
prevalent in most of the countries, some Muslim countries still
practice monarch system.
Absolutism might have been a good practice earlier days but with
the advent of different kinds of political terms today such as,
republican, Communist and capitalism, the world don't expect
someone who would rule them taking all their right to oneself.
People never breathed the air of freedom under absolutism as they
do today because the person in power advanced their ideas making
the people force that the person in power is always right without
giving them space to put forth their opinions.
