Arnold Schoenberg is considered one of the master musicians of all times. He was an Austrian-American music composer, born in 1874 and died in 1951. In the span of 77 years of his life, he gave some incredible music to the world, which is still remembered as classic. He invented some new form of music composition like atonality, which involves serialism and 12-tone row.

His father was a shoe shop owner in Vienna. The family did not have a musical background, however they enjoyed listening to music. Arnold, from a very tender age, had an inclination towards music. At the age of 9, he used to play and compose using his violins. He was encouraged by his friends to learn and play different music instruments. After the death of his father, Arnold had to take job of a bank clerk to support his family. It was during that time that he met his friend and patron, Alexander von Zemlinsky. Zemlinsky used to guide Arnold about harmony, compositions and other nitty-gritty details of classical music. It was under his guidance that Arnold gave his first public performance in the year 1897. The music piece was the String Quartet in D Major was highly appreciated by the audiences.

His first major piece of work was Vreklarte Nacht which means Transfigured Night. This piece was released in the year 1899 and was music of romantic nature. It was inspired by a poem of the same name. The programmatic nature of the music and its harmonies, initially faced rejection from the audiences. The public gave its acceptance to this music in 1903. Till date, it is the most crafted and remember music of Arnold Schoenberg.

Arnold married his friend’s sister, Mathilde and settled in Berlin after marriage. There he was working as a music director at Uberbretti. Uberbretti was a platform for intimate cabaret performance. Arnold wrote many music pieces, performed by the group and earned lots of appreciation. However, he did not find his music objective getting fulfilled at Uberbretti and he moved to Stern Conservatory where he worked as a composition teacher.

Arnold Schoenberg is still remembered as the founder of tonality in music. He is considered one of the Master Musicians of all times, in the world. Some even consider him as the father of modern music. In his 12-tone method, each composition is formed of 12 different notes, all placed in arrow. The row can be transcended either ways. This 12-tone method granted him his most famous piece of work, The Opera of Moses und Aron. This opera began in the year 1930 and was a huge hit among the audiences from the very beginning.

The work of Arnold Schoenberg still form the research and inspiration basis for many music lovers. He has been correctly termed as the father of Music Modernism.
