2. The table listed below communicates the results of a statistical test exploring the relationship between different types of bully victimizations (cyber, verbal, and physical) and individual reports of mental health (depression and suicide ideation). The victimization variables are all categorical (yes/no) and the depression and suicide ideation measures are scored on an interval/ratio level such that higher values are indicative of the respondent experiencing higher levels of depression and suicide ideation. Write a paragraph summarizing the relationship between different types of victimizations (cyber, verbal, and physical) and mental health status (depression and suicide ideation). Pay particular attention to significant and non-significant findings (i.e., *p < .01 indicates that the finding is significant at the .01 level).

The hypothesis test for Cyber Bully Victim shows Depression
The Null and Alternative Hypotheses
Where, is mean score who are Cyber Bully Victim and is mean score who are not Cyber Bully Victim
The t statistic is used to compare the two population means and the significance level for the test is
From the table, the t statistic is,
Cyber Bully Victim | |||||
Yes | No | t-statistic | P-value
Depression | 4.62 | 2.28 | -1.48 | >0.01 | Not Significant |
The corresponding P-value is >0.01 at the 1% significance level for the two sided alternative hypothesis. Hence, it can be concluded that the null hypothesis is not rejected. Hence we can conclude that there no evidence that Cyber Bully Victim shows Depression.
The hypothesis test for Cyber Bully Victim shows Suicide Ideation
From the table, the t statistic is,
Cyber Bully Victim | |||||
Yes | No | t-statistic | P-value
Suicide Ideation | 1.39 | 0.55 | -0.97 | >0.01 | Not Significant |
The corresponding P-value is >0.01 at the 1% significance level for the two sided alternative hypothesis. Hence, it can be concluded that the null hypothesis is not rejected. Hence we can conclude that there no evidence that Cyber Bully Victim shows Suicide Ideation.
The hypothesis test for Verbal Bully Victim shows Depression
From the table, the t statistic is,
Verbal Bully Victim | |||||
Yes | No | t-statistic | P-value
Depression | 3.27 | 1.87 | -9.50* | <0.01 | Significant |
The corresponding P-value is <0.01 at the 1% significance level for the two sided alternative hypothesis. Hence, it can be concluded that the null hypothesis is rejected. Hence we can conclude that there is enough evidence that Verbal Bully Victim shows Depression.
The hypothesis test for Verbal Bully Victim shows Suicide Ideation
From the table, the t statistic is,
Verbal Bully Victim | |||||
Yes | No | t-statistic | P-value
Suicide Ideation | 0.91 | 0.39 | -8.56* | <0.01 | Significant |
The corresponding P-value is <0.01 at the 1% significance level for the two sided alternative hypothesis. Hence, it can be concluded that the null hypothesis is rejected. Hence we can conclude that there is enough evidence that Verbal Bully Victim shows Suicide Ideation.
The hypothesis test for Physical Bully Victim shows Depression
From the table, the t statistic is,
Physical Bully Victim | |||||
Yes | No | t-statistic | P-value
Depression | 3.57 | 2.2 | -7.71* | <0.01 | Significant |
The corresponding P-value is <0.01 at the 1% significance level for the two sided alternative hypothesis. Hence, it can be concluded that the null hypothesis is rejected. Hence we can conclude that there is enough evidence that Physical Bully Victim shows Depression.
The hypothesis test for Physical Bully Victim shows Suicide Ideation
From the table, the t statistic is,
Physical Bully Victim | |||||
Yes | No | t-statistic | P-value
Suicide Ideation | 1.05 | 0.51 | -6.8 | <0.01 | Significant |
The corresponding P-value is <0.01 at the 1% significance level for the two sided alternative hypothesis. Hence, it can be concluded that the null hypothesis is rejected. Hence we can conclude that there is enough evidence that Physical Bully Victim shows Suicide Ideation.
