When discussing the multiplication of viruses, virologist prefer to call the process replication rather than production. Why do you think so? Would you agree with virologist that 'replication' is the better term. Elaborate
ANSWER :- Virology , as we all know is the study of viruses. The virologist usually prefer to call the process "replication" for the multiplication of viruses, rather than using term production. Actually, the Virologist describe the formation of viruses during the infection process in target host as viral replication. Viral cells are acellular, so the viral population do not grow through cell division. Instead, they use the machinery and metabolism of a host cell to produce multiple copies of themselves, and they assemble in the cell. As, they form multiple copies in host cell or replicate in host cell, that is why the term replication properly suits for their multiplication rather than production.
Yea, I am agree with the Virologist, that the term "replication" is better term. Because when virus enters in host cell, before, the production of mRNA and synthesis of virus components, it (virus) undergoes the process of replication, that is multiplication of viruses takes place using the host machinery. Viral are acellular, so the viral population do not grow through cell division, rather they hijack the machinery of host cell to produce multiple copies of themselves, and they assemble inside the cell. Because of this , I am agree with the virologist to use the term "replication" for the multiplication of viruses is better term.
