Solutions

Expert Solution

1.Copper sulfate + Sodium Nitrate

molecular equation:

CuSO4 (aq) + 2NaNO3 (aq) ----------> Cu(NO3)2 (aq) + Na2SO4 (aq)

complete ionic equation:

Cu2+ (aq) + SO42- (aq) + 2Na+ (aq) + 2NO3- (aq) ----------> Cu2+ (aq) + 2NO3- (aq) + 2Na+ (aq) + SO42- (aq)

net ionic equation:

Because all the ions are spectator ions which is present on both the sides of equation, therefore there will be No reaction.

driving force: Is the force which is due to the nature of force in the solid product formed, because there will no solid in the equation therefore driving force is none.

3.Copper sulfate + Sodium Hydroxide

molecular equation:

CuSO4 aq) + 2NaOH (aq) ---------->Cu(OH)2 (s) + Na2SO4 (aq)

complete ionic equation:

Cu2+ (aq) + SO42- (aq) + 2Na+ (aq) + 2OH- (aq) ----------> Cu(OH)2 (s) + 2Na+ (aq) + SO42- (aq)

net ionic equation:

Cu2+ (aq) + 2OH- (aq) ----------> Cu(OH)2 (s)

driving force: Cu(OH)2 (s)

----------------------------------------------------

4.Copper sulfate + potassium phosphate

molecular equation:

3CuSO4 aq) + 2K3PO4 (aq) ---------->Cu3(PO4)2 (s) + 3K2SO4 (aq)

complete ionic equation:

3Cu2+ (aq) + SO42- (aq) + 6K+ (aq) + 2PO43- (aq) ----------> Cu3(PO4)2 (s) + 6K+ (aq) + SO42- (aq)

net ionic equation:

3Cu2+ (aq) + 2PO43- (aq) ----------> Cu3(PO4)2 (s)

driving force: Cu3(PO4)2 (s)
