The population on earth is ever-increasing and there are chances of a food shortage? Can a bionic leaf help in reducing the food shortage? Explain.

Expert Solution

The bionic leaf is a part of agricultural revolution in the modern world which is going to face shortage of resources. Researchers have invented a "bionic" leaf that can undergo its process of using bacteria, sunlight, water and air in order to make fertilizer in the soil where the crops are grown for food. This bionic leaf that pairs the water-splitting catalyst with the bacteria Ralstonia eutropha, then they consumes hydrogen and takes carbon dioxide out of the air to make liquid fuel.

In the absence of centralized process, irrigation, soil fertility and infrastructure this leaf will turn out to be a major source of fertilizer and will help in food production.

For the poorer countries this is emerging as a boon with the absence of resources and finance to import. This leaf is a very important part of green revolution to grow food in large amount for the high demand as well as producing in a very cost effective way.

Thus as a remedial measure to deal with the food shortages of the future world , bionic leaf may turn out to be a very important means to meet the needs and survive.

Thankyou

In order to meet the rising demand from an increasing global population, the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization had estimated that food production would have to increase by 70 percent to cope with demand. Given the finite supply of arable land and water, producing higher yields through increased farm productivity was seen by many as the only viable option. Biotechnology (Biotech) crops offered one means to increase productivity by offering greater yields while potentially using fewer natural resources such...

Miracle Rice Rice is staple food in Asia. In the 1950s, Asia faced food shortage and an impending famine. If you have relatives that lived in Asia during the ’50s and ’60s, they may tell you that due to the rice shortage, many starved and those who were lucky had to supplement their diet with other crops, such as barley. In 1962, an organization focused on research and development of rice called International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) developed a high-yielding...

As far as I interpret it, the law of ever increasing entropy states that "a system will always move towards the most disordered state, never in the other direction". Now, I understand why it would be virtually impossible for a system to decrease it's entropy, just as it is virtually impossible for me to solve a Rubik's cube by making random twists. However the (ever so small) probability remains. Why does this law underpin so much of modern physics? Why...

Identity theft and data breaches seem to be ever-increasing in scope, severity, and frequency. As it is almost impossible to live in this world without sharing your private information with many other people, what steps can you take to minimize the risk of ID theft, and what can you do after the fact to minimize the damage?
