Answer: Franco-prussian war of 1870s though started by French but reasons for this war were ignited by Prussian Chancellor Bismark.

Main immediate reason for war was issue of succession of thrown in Spain but apart from it rhe growing German power since Austro-Prussian war in 1866 and emergence of Prussia as leading german power and increasing unification of German states were viewedwhether French or German nationalism profited more from this war in the long run with apprehension by NEPOLEAN.Hence these were the long term issues in bone of contention.

Now come to second part of question whether French or German nationalism profited more from this war in the long run,so before this war Bismark intentionally encouraged the growing rift between France and Prussia in order to bring the states of S Germany in NATIONAL UNION.And He made it possible when during war states of S Germany joined Prussia hence a feeling of nationalism emerged due to this war which made possible the UNIFICATION OF POWERFUL GERMAN STATE.
