List the benefits of directing roof runoff to an infiltration bed, and also, the risks. Why would a surface infiltration bed probably perform longer than an underground one?
Benefits of directing roof runoff to an infiltration bed :
1.Avoid damage of private properties and streets.
2. To recharge the ground water level. And use the water for house hold purposes.
3. To avoid formation of the bacteria and minimize the health risks.
4.provides effective stromwater flood control .
5. Groundwater can use for integration of urban landscape and provide green and recreational areas.
Risks :
1. It requires expert planing and implication .
2. A lot of opportunities and labours required .
3. Risk in clogging infiltration by high sedimentation rates.
4. Temporary covering methods can became torn or ripped.
5. If infiltration is at near to the house it may leads to foundation erosion.
Reasons for surface infiltration bed probably perform longer than underground one :
1. Whenever there is precipitation occurs, first of all the dry soil on the surface is getting wetted. For this a lot of water is required and it is time consuming process. And after total soil getting wet, water is free to move into the ground .but in the case of underground one the soil is already wet by its nature. So water movement in underground is very easy.
2. A lot of water is flows one place to another place due to slope of ground. It is also one of the reasons for delay in the surface infiltration bed.
