Eli is feeling disconnected to his friends and family. He doesn’t feel like he fits into any groups and finds that he easily conforms to any group who will give him attention. From a social psychology perspective, how might we predict if he would be willing to join an extreme group like ISIS or a cult?

Social isolation alludes to a total or almost dearth of interaction with people and society for members of a social species.

It is not the same as loneliness deep-rooted in momentary absence of contact with other humans. Despite the age, Social isolation can be a problem for anyone, however symptoms may be different for different age group.

This habitual type of entrenched social isolation can mean:

• Lingering at home for several days or even weeks at times due to deficiency of ingress to social circumstances rather than a wish to be alone;
• Both, not contacting and not being communicated by any friends, even incidentally; for example, never being called by anyone on the telephone and never having anyone visit one's house;
• an absence of eloquent, extended relations, and particularly close intimacy (both bodily and psychological)

As per condition since Eli follows with any group who gives him special care, that demonstrates that he can be comfortably moulded to join any organization or group notwithstanding the correct or erroneous things.
