Your friend gives you their special plant food and claims it will make your plant grow much faster than water alone does.

Describe a simple experiment you can do to test the hypothesis that "special plant food will make plants grow faster". You have two plants, water, the special plant food and a measuring stick.

Solutions

Expert Solution

You can do simple experiment. Make two sets.

- Measure the heights of the plants before the start of the experiement .

Set 1- Give only water to one plant .

Set 2- Give water and special plant food to another plant.

Let them grow for a specific time interval

Measure the height at the end of the experiment.

Expected Result : If special food seems to be working then you would see the striking difference in the growth of set 2 plant with respect to that of the one.

If not working then there will be no significant difference in there growth pattern.

Now if result seems to be positive then you can reverse the conditions for the above set , in order to confirm your result that the growth of plant in set 2 is because of special food, not by chance.

Now

Give water and additional special food to the plant of set 1 and only water to plant of set 2 .

Expected Result : if special food really proves to be beneficial then plant of set 1 will now show more as compare to that of plant in set2 .

Hope you will get get what I m trying to say ?good luck

- Your friend claims he has a fair coin; that is, the probability of flipping heads or tails is equal to 0.5. You believe the coin is weighted. Suppose a coin toss turns up 15 heads out of 20 trials. At α = 0.05, can we conclude that the coin is fair (i.e., the probability of flipping heads is 0.5)? You may use the traditional method or P-value method.

Your power plant on Gilligan’s Island is producing too much air pollution.
