how do i use a sinewave with 5V peak to peak at 10kHz from a function generator to observe it's spectrum on the analyzer. do I have to build a circuit to make a sinewave or can i just use the oscilloscope and function generator without a circuit being built? if so which kind of circuit can I build to make a sinewave with 5V peak to peak.
Following are the function of oscillioscope, function generator and spectrum analyzer.
Function generator: It generate different kind of electrical waveforms. for example sine wave, triangular wave sawtooth wave andsquare wave.
Oscillioscope: It plots varying voltage signal in time domain.
Spectrum Analyzer: It plots electrical signal in frequecny domain means it plots different frequency component in input signal.
Now you asked weather you need an external circuit to generate sine wave. And answer to your question is No, you do not need any external circuit you just need some probs. You can generate different kind of voltage waveform using function generator. you have not specified exact model of your function generator, but most of the function generators support sine, triangular and square wave. i think that peak to peak and frequency requirements will also be fulfiled by your function generator(these are also common). for more information you can refer user manual of your function generator. just set right setting in function generator and it will do the job for you. after generating sine wave you can also varify it using an oscillioscope.
