Discuss field sampling approaches and the importance of assessing certain stream characteristics during sampling.
In the process of field sample analysis, a surveyor removes a tiny sample of the earth for testing. The sample might have a number of sample types, such as a part of the sludge, soil, dirt ,water, and air.
Soil samples are tested at various depths, initiating from the ground level and collection of soil every 6 inches up to a depth of 23.5-inches. Samples those collected at every depth is mixed into composite samples and air dried before the examination in lab analysis.
Sample testing examines - Nitrogen , pH , sulfur , amount of humus, amount of lime and phosphorus ,Physical properties, example porosity, specific gravity etc .
And in the cases of stream , the water at different points are collected for examination and examined for different properties like BOD , dissolved oxygen , amount of nitrate , ammonia , organic matter .
Importance of assessing certain stream characteristics during sampling -
It tells about the degree of pollution of the stream water , the degree of treatment required before discharge or the danger in the life of water animals due to pollution .
If any doubt kindly comment. Thank you.
