Evaluate the five types of exercise according to their contributions to different types of fitness. Which type is better suited for people in different age categories?
Almost the entire world including profit minded multinational corporations have realised the importance of a healthy life after a long time. It is better late than never because most of the children are becoming obese, more young people die because of unhealthy life style and drugs. Adults work like machines and come home tired without any time for quality living. This has resulted in developing exercises that would benefit all the age groups. The most important among them are the big five exercise category that include, Aerobic, Anaerobic, Isometric, Isotonic and Isokinetic.
Aerobic Exercises – These exercise needs lots of energy and rhythmic steps that help one stay fit. It also needs lots of oxygen as it is very rigorous continuous and it improves the heart related functions. This is suitable for children, youngsters and adults who don’t have heart or joint problems.
Anaerobic Exercises – These include heavy exercise that needs more stamina and oxygen. Some of them include cycling, running etc. It improves physical strength and it is suitable for children, youngsters and adults who don’t have heart or joint problems.
Isometric Exercises – These exercises are done in a static position which does not require more strength and joint contractions. So this could be used by anyone as it has very slow movements.
Isotonic exercises – These are also performed on a static condition but unlike the isometric, they include contraction of the muscle in question. So this could be used by anyone as it has very slow movements but people have joint problems should perform them with additional care as they will be involving joints.
Isokinetic Exercises – Isokinetic exercises are done using machines that regulate the movements of the body and gives some flexibility to the body. All the modern machines in the gym are part of this exercise. Anyone can do these exercise under the guidance of a supervisor or coach.
