Solutions

Expert Solution

Self Compacting Concrete is a special type of concrete that compacts under its own weight without the need of any external vibration.

1) Self Compacting Concrete can be used in the areas that are very congested and where normal methods of vibrations are not applicable.

2) Self Compacting Concrete can be used in a condition where skilled manpower is not available for placing and compaction of concrete.

3) we can use it in place of traditional concrete in large projects as it can save the cost of equipment and labour and can prove as an economical measure.

4)Advantages:

  • Results in faster construction
  • Improves durability due to better compaction and homogeneity of concrete
  • Ease of placement
  • Reduced permeability

Disadvantages:

  • The mix design and procedure adopted is too complicated
  • Lack of globally accepted test standards
  • More shrinkage and creep due to more paste volume
  • More Precise measurement of the constituents.
