Explain the regulatory focus theory. Give some examples of situations in which people orient their behavior with a prevention focus and some in which they orient their behavior with a promotion focus.
Regulatory focus theory which deals with influence/persuasion, which focuses on a people observations(perceptions) on their ability of decision making. It was coined by Prof. E. Tory Higgins, from Columbia University . It is thought to be one of the striking commitments to the field of human psychology. The theory essentially spins around the enthusiasm/eagerness of a man and how the individual achieves his objective. This theory roots into the ideas of “regulatory fit theory” where a man while settling on a choice affair an inclination which settles on the decision proper in a specific circumstance.
Regulatory Focus Theory
Regulatory focus theory focus on convincing on achieving an objective while keeping specific person's principles and standards, and is resolved bereft of anything pessimistic. The theory recognizes two focuses:”promotional focus” and “prevention focus”.
