How does biochemistry differ from organic chemistry? (consider solvents, concentrations, reaction temperatures, rates, yields, side reactions)
Solution :-
Organic chemistry involves the study of the compounds containing the carbon –carbon bonds and carbon –hydrogen bonds that is hydrocarbons.
In the organic chemistry variety of the different classes of the organic compounds are studied at higher concnetrations and different reactions conditions from lower to higher temperature and pressure.
Organic compounds are usually soluble in the organic solvents. The reaction rates are hogher and it can produce the various different compounds as the biproducts of the reactions. The yield of the reactions varies depending on the reaction conditions and other factors .
Biochemistry involves the study of the biomolecules such as lipids, protiens , different types of sugars , amino acids etc.
In the biochemistry biomolecules which are involved in the living organisms mechanism are studied .
The concnetrations of the these molecules are lower. The temperature conditions are also related to the normal body temperatures or room temperatures. Solvent may be used as organic solvents or water.
The rates of the reactions are slow and yield of the reactions is high. The side reactions are not occur majorly.
