How do affordable long-distance flights affect tourism?

How do affordable long-distance flights affect tourism?

Solutions

Expert Solution

Tourism depends on the facilities of transportation. Earlier cost of transportation was quite high, so tourism industry was not performing well up to mark. But after 2000, cheaper flight rates have brought about significant rise in number of tourists visiting far flung areas.

Biggest fall in air fare has been recorded in ASEAN countries. More than 40 % fall in air fare has been witnessed in many countries. Thus, tourism industry has been thriving more due to cheaper flight rate. Cheaper flight rates have offered opportunities to many tourists who are air travelling for first time. Competition and improvement in technology have made flights cheaper and affordable.

Flights would be becoming more cheaper in near future, so people will visit more. Far off areas are visited if flights are adequately and cheaply available. People often use buses or trains for travelling small distances. But for long distances, flights are preferred, hence, if flights are cheaper, people will travel more and tourism industry will boom and thrive.
