A good manager will accomplish more by spending two hours at his desk than talking for two hours with subordinates.
Do you agree? Why/Why not?
When you write, make sure your writing:
• addresses all parts of the task • presents a clear position of your argument • presents main ideas • arranges information and ideas coherently • uses cohesive devices effectively • use referencing clearly or appropriately • uses paragraphing logically • uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task • attempts to use less common vocabulary but with some inaccuracy • avoids errors in spelling and/or word formation, • uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms • avoid errors in grammar and punctuatio
No, i do not agree with this statement made here. A good manager would never be able to accomplish and do more productive work by sitting on the desk for two hours rather than diacussing and being with his subordinates in those 2 hours. A manager's primary role is to make sure that the subordinates and the employees are working in an orderly and effective manner. To make sure the activities are being performed in the right manner, an effective interaction, personal relationship management and communication is maintained with those employees to make sure there is no problems and hinderances in their day to day activities and work.
This thing and objective could only be achieved only if the manager would be able to have an effective communication with the employees. One on one communication to make sure the employees could get an opportunity to share what are they feeling, how are things at work, if the organisational culture is satisfactory or not and if not how can the same be maintained, the relationships with their co workers and all the other relevant issues.
Thus, we cannot say that a good manager would be able to perform better sitting on his desk instead of interacting and communicating with the employees. I believe interaction, communication and maintaining personal relationships are more important and thus they could help them to make better decisions and do better work rather than just sitting.
