The pathway for transmission of light into the eye is :

Cornea ---> Aqueous humor ---> Pupil ---> Lens ---> Vitreous humor ---> Retina

  1. Cornea -- It is a tranperent sheath at the front of the eyeball.
    - It is a part of fibrous tunic that continues as sclera.
    - It protect the eye against UV radiations

  2. Aqueous humor - It is a transperent fluid produced by ciliary body into the anterior chamber.
    - It nourish lens and cornea.

  3. Pupil - A hole that allows passage of light.
       - Pupillary muscles controls the amount of light entering the eye.

  4. Lens - In human eye the lens is biconvex.
    - It focuses light onto the retina.

  5. Vitreous humor - This fluid id present in the posterior chamber of the eye ball.
    - It contains water, collagen and protein.
    - It supports the lens.

  6. Retina - It is the innermost layer of the eyeball.
    - It contains photoreceptor cells that detect the visual stimuli.
    - It is also known as neural tunic.
