a) we choose control group pretest-posttest quasi- experiment
To design a pre-test-post-test quasi experiment, we measure the effect of silent reading before the experiment and measure the conditions of each participant and we then expose the subject to the silent reading and see the effects after certain period of time which we can establish as our post-test. Since there are various age groups present we can make reading the dependent variable and we can associate it with different emotions which will help us determine the result.
So in pre-test we measure the subjects before introducing the silent reading program and record their responses. What they do that provide that keep them occupied before we introduce reading to them. The graphs will be attached with the answer for better understanding.
Now after post-test we see that the number of subjects have spent more time reading beside the reading hour in school, since pre and post results accounts for each individual we can see their progress and how they now filled the time with pleasure reading after the experiment.
We also have to keep in mind the mortality rate, that is how many participants drop out of the study as different age group is involved the results will vary as it’s not a true experiment.
from the graph we can easily see that pleasure reading time has increased outside the 20 minute window that school provide for the subjects.
