A 29-year-old female develops sepsis and, as a consequence, she experiences profound vasodilation.
a) What effect does vasodilation have on the afterload? Explain why.
b) What effect does vasodilation have on blood pressure? Explain why. How will her body try to bring her blood pressure back to homeostasis?
Be detailed in your explanation

Question no 1
Vasodilation and Afterload .
Afterload is the pressure against which the body will have to pump blood . When vasodilation occur that return flow of blood increase as well as the arterioles become dialated. This will cause the reduction in pressure in the arteries. Reduction in the pressure in arteries will thereby lead to less afterload as it is the pressure against which heart has to pump blood . So vasodilation reduces pressure and thereby afterload
Question no 2
Blood pressure
Blood pressure is the sum of many factors
Heart rate
Blood volume
Peripheral vascular resistance
These are the main factors in this situation it is mentioned that vasodilation will occur in body . So it will result in the reduction in the peripheral vascular resistance.
So when the peripheral vascular resistance decrease it will lead to reduction in blood pressure.
Homeostasis is maintained by
Increase in heart rate can maintain the blood pressure in body or fluid increase by activating renin angiotensin Mechanism . This will help in Increase in blood pressure.
