What research model did they use? Interventional research model was used where a lot of experiments were conducted
What would you have used? I would have used associational (correlational, causal-comparative) or interventional
Is this research valid? Absolutely it's valid - It's given some amazing findings.
It is truly testing what it is meant to be testing? Yes it is
What did the authors conclude?
Exactly quoting the article " The three research questions which guided the study were all answered in favour of similarity between boys and girls within and across cultures as follows:
1. There were no statistically significant differences (at an alpha level of .05) between boys and girls conceptual acquisition in the domain of astronomy and Earth science.
2. Boys and girls follow similar trends in their cosmological development.
3. The patterns of knowledge acquisition, cognitive development, and conceptual change, are similar for boys and girls across cultures and ethnic groups.
Do you agree with their conclusions? Yes as per the study conducted by them over 800 samples which is quite good to draw a result
Is this research useful to clinicians? Yes it is as i said 800 is a good sample size to draw any conclusions
What did you think of this journal article? There is remarkable similarity among the three phases -- conceptual organisation – intuitive, cultural and scientific – within and across cultures, ethnicities and genders. Therefore it's safe to predict that whether the child comes from India, USA or China we can expect similar results.
What new learning can you take from this article that applies to your own life? Gender equality plays an essential role to get true results like the one mentioned above.
