Dr. Phil, a TV personality specializing in social disorders, has retained you as a consultant on ways to minimize the social impact that results from the noise and smell generated by flatulence. What is your advice: List 3 ways to mitigate the problem (in humans) and give the basis for each recommendation.

Flatulence is the accumulation abdominal and intestinal gas leading to discomforts in individual.

Advice to him

Help him to build social integrity and confidence. Explain to him this cause and that this is normal in every individual as an average individual pass this specific kind of air 11-17 times per day and is not a problem that will create social distancing.

3 ways to mitigate the problem

  1. Foods that are high in oligosaccharides and polysaccharide are the main reason for the gas development. Food such as beans ,brocholi , onion etc help in flatulence so these has to be avoided in diet so that the chance if flatulence in public place can be avoided.
  2. Underlying disease like corhns disease and specific kind of bacterial excess growth are the main reason. This can be treated and normal Flora excess can be treated with antibiotics causing reduction in expulsion of gas in public
  3. Eating slowly and eating small diet can help in reducion if the gas intake by individuals. When the amount of gas intake is reduced it will reduce expulsion of gas also .
  4. Doing Exersice and not using chewing gum.
