This is a legal question
The U.S. has stringent restrictions on toxic substance disposal compared to many poor countries that have no regulations regarding such matters. Firms can move operations to such countries, not spend millions on expensive pollution controls required in the U.S. and so produce the product for less. Should we effectively extend our pollution control laws to other countries by not allowing the import of products made in countries or at plants that do not meet American pollution standards? Explain, identifying the values upon which you base your conclusions.
One increasing tendency of the developed countries is treating the underdeveloped countries and part of the developing countries as trash. This mindset allows them to bribe the authorities of those poor countries on making them agree to dump the toxic substance wastes in those countries. Most people in those countries are unaware of the dangers these substances will bring. So, in this case almost all the western countries behave in an inhuman way because they don’t care about the lives of people in those countries. They are already in utmost poverty and when this affects them, they will have no place to go for treatment except to die. The lives of the third world countries have no value and treating them in this way, the developed countries have no values, ethics or morality.
In my opinion, the substance waste should be processed in the country of origin and not in a country where the regulations are loose. I wouldn’t even think about making strict rules and regulation for disposing toxic wastes in other countries but it should be done in accordance with the rules and regulation of the country from where the waste is generated.
