Understand the stability as it pertains to melting point
The melting point of a substance is the temperature at which it changes state from solid to liquid.
A highly stable compound has a very important in relation to its boiling and melting points.
At its melting point, a highly stable compound changes state between solid and liquid. At the boiling point, said compound interconverts between the liquid and gas phase.
Hydrogen chloride is perfectly stable. It melts at -115°C and boils at -85°C.
Water also stable - at which temperatures it melts and boils.
Silicon dioxide is very stable compound: it melts at about 1700°C.
So the stablity compound as it pertains to melting point.
